CID CI interdicted

Chief Inspector Merril Lamahewa, of the Criminal Investigations Department, was interdicted following an investigation into his absence from the Courtroom at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court complex, when the case pertaining to the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was taken up.
Sources told The Island that the Chief Inspector was in Court on that day but had left with all others present, including lawyers, following an order by the policeman on duty there.
However, the Chief Inspector had returned sometime after Court proceedings resumed but found that the case had already been called and notice had been issued on him.

Police Media Spokesperson, SP Ajith Rohana said the officer had been interdicted following an investigation into Lamahewa’s absence from the courtroom at the Colombo Magistrate’s Court complex, when the case pertaining to the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was taken up
