"This is a historic occasion not just for Godrej but for the industry," Godrej Appliances Chief Operating Officer George Menezes said here.
He said while many companies across the world had been working on this technology, "we are delighted to be the first one to begin to commercially manufacture this product and will launch it in the market".
"The very fact that the Government of India and the Government of Germany have been our partner in this endeavour showcases the significance of this launch. This also reflects our organisation's commitment to the green cause, which we are known for," Menezes said.
Godrej Appliances Executive Vice-president Kamal Nandi said the company would be launching Godrej EON green balance range of five-star air-conditioners as Green Balance Technology.
"We hope to grow by 30 per cent this year as AC category," Nandi said.
