Sri Lanka Tamil party says Indian parliamentary delegation ignored the IDPs in the East

Apr 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's major Tamil political party, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) says the Indian parliamentary delegation that visited the country last week did not visit the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Eastern Province.
TNA's Batticaloa District parliamentarian P. Selvarasa has reportedly charged at a public event in Vavunathivu in Batticaloa that the Indian parliamentary delegation, after claiming that they would meet the displaced civilians in Sri Lanka, had ignored the IDPs in the East.

Selvarasa has said the Indian delegation had only attended two public events during their visit to Batticaloa last Friday.

He has observed that the Indian MPs had not been bothered about the issues faced by the IDPs in the Eastern Province.

He has pointed out that there are around 5,000 IDPs from 1,268 families living under difficult conditions at the welfare centers in Muttur and the food provided to these IDPs by the WFP has also been stopped for the past four months.
