Apr 04, Colombo: A Sri Lankan court has today directed an official from Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to explain why he had failed to appear before court when the murder case of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was taken up.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Prasanna de Alwis has ordered the CID inspector Meryl Ranjan who is investigating the murder to appear in court personally on April 17 to explain why he failed to come before the court during the magisterial inquiry in to Premachandra's murder today.
The Magistrate at the last hearing asked the CID to submit a report on the whereabouts and medical condition of governing party MP Duminda Silva who is under court warrant for his alleged involvement in the murder of four persons including Premachandra and of the steps being taken to arrest Silva.
The CID has failed to submit the report and the investigating officer was also absent from court.
