"It is true that the US is hatching many a conspiracy against Sri Lanka. India, which maintains cordial and friendly relations with our nation, was forced to vote with the US in Geneva", the prelate told a news conference at his Battaramulla party headquarters recently.
"I don’t think India adopted this stand with hatred and acrimony towards Sri Lanka. Even in the past, India has always come forward to help our nation in her hour of need", he noted.
Ven. Seelaratana thera was of the view that the healthy relations between the two countries would not be strained because of India’s decision to vote against Sri Lanka in Geneva.
Condemning the Human Rights Council resolution against Sri Lanka, he said that as long as our nation stood united, shedding all political, religious, caste and creed differences, nobody can do any harm to this country.
